Cordoba, like other major cities of Andalucia, has many interesting places to visit thanks to the settlement of other civilizations and cultures in the past such as the Roman Empire. One of the most visited historical landmarks of the city is the Mosque-Cathedral of Arabic origin whose construction began in 785 and which certainly is one of the most impressive monuments in Spain. Very close to the Mosque is situated the Alcazar of the Catholic Kings with its manicured gardens and Hamam. Closeby we find also the famous Roman Bridge from the first century BC and next to City Hall and the city centre there are some interesting Roman remains of an ancient temple from the middle of the first century. Northwest to the Mosque is situated the Jewish Quarter of Cordoba, a very particular area where Jews lived between the tenth and fifteenth centuries, and many other points of interest.
